Hours of preparation, public speeches, friends made and events attended...all are experiences Miss Oktoberfest will be remembering in the final moments before she hands her crown over to this year's pageant winner. Last year's winner impressed the judges and audience alike. She displayed the enthusiasm, generosity and talent that has become the hallmark of past winners of this highly sought after honour.
K-W looks forward to welcoming a new queen for this year. The new winner will be one of many who travel from across North America. Before the festival begins, they will gather to participate in a week of photo sessions, rehearsals and other pre-pageant activities.
Beginning with the Opening Ceremonies at City Hall, the new queen will make many public appearances. She speaks to over 15, 000 students in schools and participates in many events such as the Thanksgiving Day Parade and Family Day. You may even see her doing the bird dance at one of Oktoberfest's many Festhallen!
Over the years, the Miss Oktoberfest Pageant has evolved into more than just a tradition. It is a necessary generator of funds, sponsorship, advertisement and public profile. The Pageant creates an awareness of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest all across North America.
The pageant, televised on CKCO-TV, is sure to be an exciting evening of entertainment, dancing, suspense, and of course, the crowning of the new queen. Be sure not to miss it if you are in the Ontario area during this time!
